Alphalyte Energy Palatinose™ is a food supplement indicated for adult sportsmen based on isomaltulose (Palatinose ™) and enriched with a mix of minerals (mineral salts in citrate form), vitamin C, and hesperidin (WATTS'UP®). Potassium and magnesium contribute to normal muscle function, while vitamin C contributes to the physiological energy metabolism and the reduction of tiredness and fatigue.

During intense and prolonged training, it is important that constant energy support is guaranteed, without glycemic peaks and related "drops" or disturbances due to dehydration or gastrointestinal issues that can significantly compromise performance.

There is widespread use by athletes of isotonic energy drinks which, however, often use ingredients that can be "heavy" or irritating for the gastrointestinal system, sometimes creating a "rollercoaster" effect on blood sugar, or that are not correctly balanced on elements' concentration and dilution.

Isomaltulose, patented as "Palatinose ™", is a carbohydrate of natural origin defined as "smart", which supplies the energy of all carbohydrates (4kcal / g) in a more balanced way, thanks to its particular low glycemic index. Among its peculiarities there is the improvement of the fat oxidation during physical activity, prolonging the energy performance. Also, a curious feature is that it is the first carbohydrate non-cariogenic for teeth. Palatinose ™ is a disaccharide that derives exclusively from the sucrose of non-GMO sugar beet, obtained through the enzymatic rearrangement of the glycosidic bond between glucose and fructose, where the difference, compared to sugar, consists in the particular bond between the glucose and fructose units (alpha-glucosidic 1.6 bond instead of 1.2, in sucrose) where energy is released more slowly and not all at once.

Previous studies on enzymatic kinetics have shown that, compared to immediately available sugars such as sucrose or maltose, the binding in the Palatinose ™ is digested much more slowly by small intestine enzymes and, thanks to the slow but complete release in the intestine, it fully provides the carbohydrate energy (4 kcal / g) in a more balanced way and over a longer period. At the same time, it provides the same amount of carbohydrate energy as sucrose.

This translates into the fact that the athlete will be supported energetically in a slower, constant and prolonged manner, with a much more elongated glycemic curve, with blood sugar levels that will remain lower and balanced, with lower demand for insulin and a better metabolic profile. As a result, the performance is sustained longer, with a prolonged energy gain from the oxidation of carbohydrates where, unlike most sugars and starches, Palatinose ™ does not block fat burning. High levels of fat-burning are desired in body weight management, and may also be of interest in physical endurance activities where optimal use of limited sources of carbohydrates could be beneficial.

During the intense and prolonged physical practice, especially in the hot season, sweating is the mechanism by which our organism keeps body temperature under control and prevents it from rising excessively, putting the various functions at risk. With intense activity in the presence of high temperatures, it is possible to lose up to 4-5 liters of liquids per hour, with a high loss of precious electrolytes which, if it is not quickly restored, open the doors to dehydration and all the annexes decompensations given by the loss of mineral salts such as sodium, chlorine, potassium, and magnesium, which are indispensable for the balance of the organism. This imbalance can adversely affect physical performance. For this reason, especially in the summer and/or when intense physical activity takes place, it is useful to support and reintroduce precious mineral salts quickly and efficiently, to restore the hydro saline balance and buffer on dehydration. The supply of mineral salts in citrated form is preferable to other versions, as it is much more bioavailable for our organs and better tolerated. It should be noted that different preparations based on some types of salts can favor the onset of gastrointestinal problems with consequent malabsorption, worsening the disruption itself (in case of diarrhea) and the performance.

WATTS'UP® is a bioflavonoid complex, naturally present in oranges, that is rapidly bioavailable for our body. WATTS'UP helps aerobic capacity and anaerobic efficiency during physical exertion.
