Fitoderm is the dietary supplement developed by the Yamamoto Research R&D team to support the health of your skin, contributing to its regular pigmentation and to protecting it from within. Fitoderm is formulated with selected vitamins and minerals for the well-being of the skin (i.e. vitamins E and C, pantothenic acid, beta-carotene, zinc, copper and selenium) and is supplemented with lycopene, borage oil and the amino acids cysteine and tyrosine. In particular, copper contributes to the regular pigmentation of the skin, while vitamin A and zinc contribute to maintaining a normal skin. Zinc also supports the physiological metabolism of vitamin A and, together with vitamin E, copper and selenium, contributes to the protection of cells from oxidative stress. The product also contains lycopene from tomato extract and borage oil, which promote the skin’s trophism and functionality.

Fitoderm is part of the new generation of sun supplements. It is able to regulate and support the formation of skin pigment (melanin). The purpose of melanin is to protect the cells of the epidermis and dermis from damage caused by the sun and UV rays, precisely because these rays can accelerate skin aging. By supporting the production of melanin, Fitoderm also supports the skin's first line of defence, especially during the summer period when we are more exposed to the sun's rays. Of course, we should not deprive ourselves of sun exposure altogether. Sunlight allows our bodies to produce vitamin D, which is essential for strong bones, as well as giving us vigour and energy. The important thing is to follow precautions and strengthen the skin's defences, also by means of valid supplementation, in order to be able to boast a healthy and even tan.

Fitoderm, like all supplements defined as sun, i.e. those that contribute to the pigmentation of the skin, does not make us 'tan more', but allows us to gain an uniform colour, a colour healthy and that respects the health of our skin. During the summer, but also in the winter for those who usually go to the ski slopes or can enjoy a getaway to well-sunlit exotic destinations, it is always nice to give our skin colour and show off a nice tan. If we prepare and protect ourselves with the right functional supplementation, we can contribute to the beauty of our skinfrom within”.

The intake of Fitoderm follows the recommended guidelines for sun supplementation. One should start taking it at least one month before exposure to the sun, so that the active ingredients contained in it can perform their activity. The formula contains beta-carotene, pantothenic acid, vitamin C, vitamin E, tomato-derived lycopene, selenium, zinc, copper, cysteine, tyrosine and the polyunsaturated fatty acids from borage oil.

Let us take a detailed look at the function of the molecules chosen for the formulation:

  • Beta-carotene is a must-have for sun supplements as it is converted by the body into vitamin A (retinol) and provides a concentrated source of pigment for our skin to help it promote melanin production and thus an even and long-lasting tan;

  • Glycopene is an antioxidant molecule that promotes skin trophism and functionality;

  • Vitamin C is indispensable for collagen production and has an antioxidant effect;

  • Vitamin E strengthens the skin barrier against UV radiation and has a moisturising and soothing effect;

  • Pantothenic acid (vitamin B5) is involved in skin and hair protection mechanisms, as well as promoting healing;

  • Selenium protects cells against oxidative stress and free radicals;

  • Copper participates in skin pigmentation, as well as intervening in melanin synthesis;

  • Zinc is necessary for the physiological metabolism of vitamin A;

  • Borage oil contains a fatty acid that can exert an anti-inflammatory action, making it useful in all pro-inflammatory skin disorders (such as eczema and dermatitis);

  • The amino acid tyrosine is involved in the synthesis of melanin, hence in the colouring of skin and hair, while cysteine acts as a precursor of glutathione, a very powerful endogenous antioxidant.

*An important note for all sun worshippers: supplements are not a substitute for protective creams with adequate SPF.

Our Advice

Fitoderm is a product designed to protect your skin from the negative action of UV rays and enable you to achieve and maintain a healthy, even and long-lasting tan. As with all sun supplements, we recommend that you start taking it at least 1 to 2 months before intensive exposure to the sun, especially if you have fair skin, skin that tends to be dry and if you have skin spots, although Fitoderm is suitable for everyone. In general, you can take Fitoderm at any time of the day, but due to the presence of fat-soluble vitamins, we recommend taking it close to a meal containing dietary fat.

Frequently asked questions

I started Fitoderm before going on holiday. Should I continue taking it during sun exposure as well?

Absolutely yes, to provide your body with constant support. It is in fact with direct exposure to the sun's rays that more free radicals are produced, and it is therefore important to support our body in this delicate phase as well.

**Should I continue taking Fitoderm after returning from holiday if I want to keep my tan at its best?

Of course you should. Fitoderm is also developed to repair sun damage and can help our skin both to stay moisturised and to produce collagen and elastin, very important molecules for beautiful skin. Providing support for melanocytes to produce melanin even after exposure to the sun also allows the tan to be maintained for longer and remain even.

If I take Fitoderm, can I avoid wearing a sunscreen?

Do not make this mistake. Sun supplements such as Fitoderm serve to prepare our skin “from the inside”, providing us with important elements to counteract the negative effect of UV rays, to achieve a healthy, even colour and to avoid sunburn and erythema, but they cannot replace protective creams with adequate SPF, which must always be used.
