The market for protein supplements is constantly evolving and spreading both in the field of sports supplements and in that of nutraceutical supplements, and Yamamoto® Nutrition is an innovative "pioneer" in everything that science and research effectively offers and demonstrates as seriously valid and effective. As a result of working together with "Carbery", a leading international Irish company in the nutritional dairy products sector aimed at human nutrition, we decided to assess and launch a particular hydrolysed protein formulation derived from whey, which we wanted to identify under our brand OPTIPEP® DH 32 NEXT, given its more than interesting peculiarity and the absolute certified quality of the 100% Grass fed® raw material.


OPTIPEP® DH 32 NEXT is part of a "new" generation of supplements based on milk-derived protein hydrolysates, previously relegated solely for use in neonatal or clinical nutrition, that enhance digestibility in the absence of allergic phenomena and achieve maximum absorption of this important macronutrient for natural physiology and human development. We wanted to extend this together with the important biological value of the raw material to the sports sector, where protein supplement is of the utmost importance and undergoing continuous development and where more and more athletes are making use of it as it plays a fundamental role in muscle recovery and support. Given their peculiarity of being "predigested" and therefore in the form of small peptides with low molecular weight, protein hydrolysates have proved to be an effective factor in promoting the fastest and most efficient recovery possible, as well as a "prompt defence" with very rapid bioavailability to preserve muscle tissue in training, as well as aid its reconstruction. Systemic biochemistry teaches us that the absorption that characterises small peptides occurs more rapidly than with more complex proteins as happens with those in milk serum, casein or a "solid" protein, already pretty fast, since the protein hydrolysates are "predigested" and do not need to be subjected to all digestive processes. The "whole" protein, understood as a long polypeptide complex, obviously has larger dimensions and a higher molecular weight, and requires more energy commitment and more time for the demolition of the chains before it can be absorbed.

This is not all! The interesting fact is how important it is to keep in mind their greater speed of bioavailability, even with respect to amino acids in free form, due to different intracellular transport  "carriers" in the intestines. Therefore, protein hydrolysates (see in particular the di- and tripeptides), are not subjected to digestion and take advantage of a "preferential lane" of intracellular absorption that allows them to be used at any time during the workout, i.e. before, during and immediately after training. Even if the whole organism is engaged with muscular effort, inflammation from the muscle damage that is created becomes acute, and with stress hormones this creates an environment "not prone to absorbing"; there are elements such as protein hydrolysates that manage to bypass this situation, and provide the athlete with the material they need already ready for reconstruction.

The EVOPEP32 innovation comes from the latest Carbery technology, obtained from progress in terms of hydrolysis, which has made it possible to reach an extraordinary value of 32 points and thus obtain an exceptional value of 65% of the hydrolysed product with a molecular weight of less than 500 Daltons, and even 83% under 1000 Daltons. Hydrolysis and molecular weight values obtained that really go "beyond", compared to other types of protein hydrolysates of the same class of origin, which already have a good level of hydrolysis with an average molecular weight of these precious highly bioactive peptides of 1569 Daltons. This result has been obtained while keeping the high biological value that characterises the whey protein source (VB 104) unchanged.For the athlete, this translates into the maximum yield in terms of support to the muscles and support for recovery, thanks to a further evolution in terms of solubility, digestibility, rapid absorption and bioavailability of the elements, without any alteration or denaturation of the biological value of proteins or peptide bonds.
