Bacillus coagulans is a supplement based on Saccharomyces cerevisiae var. boulardii CNCM and Bacillus coagulans BC513 developed to promote the balance of intestinal flora and reduce gastro-intestinal disorders. Each stick contains as many as 10 billion probiotics for the health of our intestinal microbiota, and has Lynside® Pro SCB certification to guarantee the highest quality.

Under normal physiological conditions, our gut is colonised by billions of microorganisms whose function is to counteract the spread of pathogenic bacteria with which we come into contact through food or external agents. Beneficial bacteria serve the body to promote the absorption of nutrients and support the proper functioning of the immune system, which consequently also affects our mental well-being.

It is therefore essential to protect the intestinal balance, to ensure the predominance of 'good bacteria' over pathogenic ones and consequently an overall state of health. To this end, the use of probiotics, either in food or in the form of specific supplements, is becoming increasingly popular. These are live microorganisms that are proven to exert beneficial functions on the body.

Bacillus coagulans is formulated with Saccharomyces cerevisiae var. boulardii CNCM and *Bacillus coagulans BC513***. Bacillus coagulans is a beneficial bacterium also known as Lactobacillus sporogenes due to its ability to produce spores, i.e. 'dormant' bacilli, which are able to wait for ideal conditions to grow and then reproduce. These particular microorganisms can be preserved intact and fully functional even at room temperature, and due to the presence of a natural protective capsule on their surface they are able to resist heat, acidic stomach pH and gastric juices**. In this way, the bacilli spores arrive safe and sound in the intestine, where they can germinate, reproduce and colonise, enriching the bacterial flora (and begin their work within a few hours of intake).

Probiotics are not always effective precisely because of the poor ability of some of them to arrive viable in the gastro-intestinal system. They are often thermolabile or pH-sensitive microorganisms of the stomach and consequently cannot reach the gut alive to perform their beneficial action. Due to its structural conformation, as mentioned above, Bacillus coagulans does not have these problems: it has the ability to resist the acidic gastric and basic pH of the intestine, and is therefore also effective in areas and body districts where other strains cannot reach.

Bacillus coagulans is a valuable support in cases of diarrhoea, after antibiotic drug therapy, in cases of colitis, diverticulitis and as an immune support. The spores of Bacillus coagulans also have a high capacity for adhesion to the gastro-intestinal mucosa, are able to inhibit the growth of other weakened bacteria and can alleviate the symptoms of certain diseases and disorders (such as acute catarrhal enteritis, diarrhoea, constipation, intestinal fermentation, non-specific vaginitis, inflammatory bowel disorders and neonatal diarrhoea). In addition, this strain is resistant to most antibiotics, which makes its intake ideal even during antibiotic therapies to counteract the typical side effects on the bacterial flora.

The formula is completed with the addition of Saccharomyces cerevisiae var. boulardii CNCM4, a yeast with a probiotic function useful in the prevention of various types of diarrhoea, including traveller's diarrhoea and diarrhoea associated with Clostridium difficile.

This probiotic resists the acidic pH conditions of the upper gastro-intestinal tract and is not susceptible to antibiotics, making it resistant to the treatment used to combat bacterial infections.

The combined use of these two strains therefore makes our Bacillus coagulans supplement functional for well-being of the intestinal flora and in the treatment of gastro-intestinal disorders.

Our Advice

Our advice We recommend taking Bacillus coagulans daily stick preferably in the morning, on an empty stomach.

Frequent Doubts**

What are probiotics? Are they really useful for my health? Probiotics are live microorganisms that provide health benefits (when taken in adequate quantities). They are often called 'good bacteria' for their positive effects on the gut microbiota, and many scientific studies have proven their functionality.

**Are there any side effects associated with taking probiotics? In most cases, probiotic supplements are well tolerated and no side effects of any kind occur. Sometimes you may initially feel a little bloating or gas production, but these are mild and temporary side effects that only persist until the body adapts to the 'new' intestinal flora.

**Are all probiotic supplements the same? Absolutely not: they can vary in composition, number of microbial strains and concentration of live microorganisms. They are not all the same, so it is important to read the label carefully and rely on the advice of professionals in the field to identify the most suitable one for your specific situation.
