Astaxantina AstaZine®

Astaxanthin is a very potent natural antioxidant found in several living organisms. It is mainly produced by the microalga Haematococcus pluvialis to protect its cells from the sun and UV radiation. This orange pigment, a carotenoid belonging to the xanthophylls class, is present in fish such as salmon and crustaceans due to their diet of zooplankton, an organism that accumulates it through feeding. As a matter of fact, zooplankton feed on this microalgae, which is responsible for the characteristic colour of orange-red fish.
