Biography

Raised in Pomezia (Rome), at 5 he started playing Calcium and at the age of 11 he became passionate about boxing. After winning the regional boxing championship three times in a row, he wins the Italian title by winning points.

Despite the successes, Alessio leaves boxing for a short time. However, he continues to train and learn Sanda, a specialty in which he wins the Italian professional title and comes second in the world championships.

At 18 he left for Colombia where he stayed for 6 months and played some professional matches and later moved to Rio De Janeiro in Brazil for 5 years where he refined his technique.

In 2006 he began his adventure in the United States, where he was selected and invited to join the American Top Team, one of the most important MMA teams in the world based in Miami where he remained for 4 years, becoming the first Italian to compete in the promotion. US UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship).

In September 2008 in Omaha, Nebraska, he won the “KO of the Night” award, special recognition for the best KO of the evening, defeating the home athlete Joe Vedepo in 1 minute and 26 seconds.

In 2009 he returned to the octagon by winning his first match with Thales Leites and shortly after he reached the fourteenth position in the world ranking of MMA middleweights, becoming part of the top ten of the UFC.

Since 2016 Alessio competes for the famous American promotion Bellator MMA in the 94 kg category, winning in April by KO against Brian Rogers. After 6 months, Bellator asks Sakara to fight Joey Beltran and the match ends after just two minutes with Sakara winning by KO.

Alessio on 9 December 2017 fought for the Bellator MMA world title in Florence; on 1 December 2018 he faced in Genoa. All the proceeds from the evening are donated to charity to the victims of the collapse of the bridge in the city of Genoa.

In 2018 he became a Bellator MMA ambassador.

Training

Off season

  • One 2-hour workout per day from Monday to Friday
  • On Saturday and Sunday I practice other sports such as canoeing, biking, swimming, climbing etc.

In season

  • 2 workouts per day from Monday to Saturday

Breakfast

  • 200g egg whites or 30g of ISO-FUJI
  • 1 organic whole egg (sometimes you can alternate with 2 scrambled eggs and 200g egg white but remove the coconut oil)
  • 80 g gluten-free cereals
  • 50 g of blueberries
  • 10 g of extra virgin coconut oil

Snack at 10:30

  • 30gr ISO FUJI protein isolate with water with 1 apple or 1 Alphazer bar dehydrated fruit

Lunch

  • 150g rice / pasta / quinoa
  • 200 g chicken or turkey
  • 150gr pineapple

Snack at 17:30

  • 100g bresaola or 100g turkey breast with 3 brown rice cakes or 30g isofuji or hydrocarn
  • 1 alphazer bar dehydrated nuts
